The world loves lists and I have run across a few over the last week or so and I thought I would post them and get comments on them. The first list I ran across was the Top 50 Movies to See Before You Die list. It was chosen by some random group of people and I am not sure why these people were picked or if they are qualified to be a picker. Here’s the list.

I have to say that I don not agree with some of these picks, but who agrees with all picks on a list like this. I have seen 25 of these movies, including both versions of Scarface and The Ladykillers. I also have Black Narcissus DVRed for later viewing, perhaps tonight. Some of these films do not belong, at least on my list of top 50 to see before you die.
I thought 2001:A Space Odyssey was just plain boring, it looked great, but it put me to sleep. Donnie Darko was just a huge mindf*^# and made almost no sense. Interesting but not essential. Another that I thought was good but not one belonging on this list was Sexy Beast. It was a nice movie, but I would not recommend this to a dying man as one he should catch be fore he takes a dirt nap.
One that I think should be added is Rear Window. This is my favorite Hitchcock movie and is such a thriller and full of suspense. This is one I would force someone to watch. Another essential to me is a movie called Dazed and Confused. I know this isn’t considered a classic, but for me and my friends, it is an essential. It reminds you that every teenager hates his town and his time period. The 70’s sucked to them, but looked pretty cool to me while they dreamed of the 80’s and they really sucked. Besides that, it was hilarious.
There are others, but I have written too much already. Others such as The Great Escape; The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly; The Red Badge of Courage; Key Largo; Duck Soup: Some Like It Hot; Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Did I miss any?

I disagree with Terminator 2. If you put a sequel on the list it should only be in conjunction with the original.
I'll admit that T2 was vastly superior to the original, but the original was completely awesome aside from the horrendously bad 80's keyboard music soundtrack.
American Graffiti makes my list.
In fact there are essential high school era flicks.
American Graffiti for the 60's.
Dazed and Confuzed for the 70's.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High for the 80's.
And the only one we could come up with for th 90's was Clueless, but being center in super rich Cali areas kind of narrows the scope.
