More news on the Rajon Rondo/point shaving allegations

**********************************
**UPDATE** It seems we created a bit of a stir with this post and the previous post as well. I linked the first post to this one so I figured I should link this one back to the first so all of the UK haters could get their gossip fix. LOL Click here for the original post that started a minor underground sensation. ENJOY!

BRATCH
**********************************

As I posted a few weeks ago, a source told me that the FBI and the NCAA was investigating University of Kentucky point guard Rajon Rondo for point shaving in three specific games this past season. My source's source was someone affiliated with the FBI who knew first hand about the investigation. I also have spoken with several others in the know who claims that the RUMOR has got legs and that an investigation may have been going on since the UConn game. I must say once again that these are allegations and none of this has been proven as fact.

Today, in fact just a couple of hours ago, I heard from my source again. He had new information for me on the Rondo situation. He claims that he got this information from a former UK player. The player did not really want to talk about the Rondo/point shaving allegations, but did not say that the rumors were false. The former player seemed to think that there was definitely something behind the allegations, but he thought that whether the investigation turned up anything or not, the whole thing would be swept under the rug and never mentioned out loud in the media. The former player believes the FBI and the NCAA will let things be because Rondo is leaving UK for the NBA.

I could definitely see this happening. Why would the NCAA want to let this get out if indeed it did happen? Talk about a PR hit, to find out that a player at a MAJOR basketball school is involved in illegal gambling and who knows what else. The NCAA would have to do a thousand investigations because if it could happen at the University of Kentucky, it could happen anywhere. Ratings are down, players are leaving early, the NCAA doesn't need anything else to take attention away from the game or to turn fans away.

I am not sure if the allegations are true, but according to what my source has been telling me, I find it hard to believe that there isn't something going on. I don't think that we will ever hear about it on Sportscenter or in the newspapers officially. I am a UK fan and I hope that nothing like this has happened. The good news is that we will probably never know for sure. Sweet ambiguity!

Nothing surprises me about UK sports. Their history speaks for itself!

It is indeed typical of UK sports and it's part of the reason the entire program is so mediocre.

bull fuckin' shit. he may be a point shaver, but he isn't representative of uk athletics at all. i'm a huge uk fan and a student at uk, and just about everyone is excited he is leaving because no one really likes him. he does not represent uk

Rondo, whether this is true or not is not typical of a UK player. He has never shown a real desire to be a UK player, no passion for it, but rather just a brief stepping stone into the NBA.

Many fans who have observed play this past season feel Rondo was a negative influence on the team, and glad he is leaving,,,

And those comments about UK, those are tasteless cheap shots!

The reason he has never shown a real desire to be a UK player is because he didn't want to be one. I went to school with him at Eastern H.S. in Louisville and all he talked about were the Cards. U of L was his school all along. He went to UK becuase U of L gave his scholarship away to Sebastian Telfair. UK was simply the next best offer and like the previous poster said, the fastest way to the NBA.

Real dumb, sure the FBI is going to let it get swept under the rug because he is going to the NBA. If he were they would really look into it and he would be banned from the NBA, you can't have someone in professional sports that is accused of point shaving. This whole blog is idiotic.

Vegas is aware of this, and alerted the F.B.I. from what I am being told. I know a Casino host at one of the majors, so this does have some teeth. Why anyone is surprised it is UK is beyond me. It's only been going on for over 50 years at that university, but as always their fans "have on the blue blinders".

Blue blinders my ass!! All Universities wish they could have half the the program, fan base and tv ratings UK has!!

U of K will be back on top before long then you little pussy U of K bashers will be cryin the BLUES once again!

Apparently UK fans arent the only one's with blinders on. Ive always been suspicious that point shaving still goes on and a recent article in SI seemed to concur with my thoughts on the subject. Im sure its went on at UK more than once in their history. But if you think Kentucky is the only place its happening than you're just as blind as we are.

Unlike the rest of you, I'll show myself. My name's Bart, and I've lived in Lexington most of my life...though I bailed out briefly to attend Ole Miss for a few years, and now live in Chicago...I've been around UK sports since I was born. My dad played baseball for them in the '60s. Here's what I think...

-First off...to the guy who said "It's only been going on for over 50 years at that university." I'll point out that it seems improbable that a team that regularly "shaves point" could still remain college basketball's WINNINGEST PROGRAM OF ALL TIME.

-If he did shave, which I doubt...it's not indicative of our program in the least. Point shaving doesn't win championships.

-I won't speculate on who would start such a rumor...but in all reality, RR wasn't shaving...he's just not that good. If some misguided NBA squad makes him a lottery pick, God help them...because, for all his athleticism, he proved next to nothing in 2 years as a Cat.

-I would trust that talk about Vegas being involved...except for the fact that Vegas bookmakers handle literally hundreds of thousands of different types of sports wagers a year, and all those involving UK wouldn't even be a drop in the pool at Mandalay Bay, so get real....

UK will survive. Long live Tubby, and the Big Blue. It won't be too long before another banner flies at Rupp...

Blue love-
